Presents at IFA Annual Convention
Building local businesses one opportunity at a time…was the theme for the 2009 International Franchise Association Annual Convention, held February 14 through 17 in San Diego, California. Throughout this event, presenters from successful franchises, such as Buffalo Wild Wings, Serta International, Oreck, The UPS Store, Choice Hotels International, and Smoothie King discussed various topics that affect the franchise world. Included in this prestigious group was SystemForward America CEO, Don Marks.
In a team setting, Don and other panelists discussed financial factors that influence the success or failure of franchises across the country. Among other things, the session included identifying, establishing and monitoring key performance indicators and how they differ for each franchisor.
No stranger to the franchise structure, Don has more than 30 years experience originating and expanding franchise business systems to drive explosive franchisee growth and profit, while greatly improving customer service. He has served in the most senior executive positions with companies such as Rent-A-Wreck, Ashley Furniture Homestores, Voice-Tel and Hyatt Legal Services.
In addition to the presentation on financial factors, Don also facilitated a roundtable discussion on increasing sales by thinking outside the box. In today’s economic climate, franchisors must use creative strategies to set themselves apart from the competition.
The IFA allows members to interact with other franchisors around the country. Through this type of networking, they can create relationships where strategies are shared, partnerships are formed and knowledge is gained.
According to the literature, this year’s convention theme reflected the new branding program initiated by the IFA in 2008.
